From May 1 to 4, the International Sambo Center will host qualifying competitions for the second season of the team tournament for boys under 18 years old “Battle of the Cities”. The competition was launched by the Russian Judo Federation in 2025 and has become a favorite among both fans and athletes.
The best young judokas of the Central Federal District will take to the tatami: medalists of the World and European Championships, as well as continental cups. 16 teams, divided into 4 subgroups, will fight to advance to the next stage, and the two best teams from each quartet will continue their path to the title.
In the capital they will compete: group “A” - “Olympus” (Moscow region), “Youth of Russia” (Oryol region), “Gamayun” (Smolensk region), Sports school No. 19 (Voronezh region); group “B” – FDM (Moscow), SC “Mekhmash” (Tula region), “Tver-judo” (Tver region), “Kursky Nightingale” (Kursk region); group “C” – “Flexible Path” (Lipetsk region), “Kometa” (Ryazan region), “Pobeda” (Moscow), “Kvant” (Kaluga region); group “D” – SShOR named after. The morning block will begin daily at 10:00, and the evening block at 15:00. A total of six match meetings are planned within one competition day. Free tickets are available at this link.
The key feature of the “Battle of the Cities” will be the unique format of the competition: confrontations will continue until 13 victories in personal meetings, but will be ended ahead of schedule when one of the teams scores 8 points. In addition, the organizers abandoned the “golden score”: in the event of a tie, a draw is declared and each team receives one point.
The grand finale of the second season of “Battle of the Cities” will also be hosted by Moscow in December. 32 teams - 16 Russian and 16 foreign - will compete for parts of a substantial prize fund.
