Eight combined teams from six regions of the Southern Federal District competed on Friday, November 21, in Rostov-on-Don for spots in the December final of the international project “City Battle”, which this year was organized for youth teams by the Russian Judo Federation and the charitable program “DobroFON”.

Two teams each from the Volgograd and Rostov regions, as well as judoka from the Astrakhan Region, Krasnodar Territory, Adygea, and Kalmykia, competed for the victory in the Southern Capital of Russia.

Following the group stage, the strongest teams were those from Krasnodar, the Volgograd club “Pridonye Top-Team”, the Volgograd regional team, and the athletes from Maykop. In the playoffs, the team from Krasnodar confidently sent the Volgograd athletes to the bronze match with a score of 13:4, while their compatriots from “Pridonye Top-Team” overcame the resistance of the team from Maykop in a much tighter contest — 13:10. In the final, riding the wave of their success, Krasnodar left no chance to “Pridonye Top-Team” — 8:0.

Thus, the Krasnodar judo school will be represented in Group A alongside the teams from Mongolia, Vyborg, and Stavropol. “Pridonye Top-Team” will compete in Group H with the judoka of São Paulo (Brazil) and the teams from Moscow and Kovrov.

The fate of the third ticket to “Sirius” from the Southern Federal District was determined in a play-off bout between the boys from Volgograd and Maykop. With a ten-point advantage — 13:3 — the team from Volgograd emerged stronger, earning a place in Group F together with the teams from Poitiers (France), Saint Petersburg, and the second team of the Ural Division, which will determine its finalists on November 22 in Chelyabinsk.

Let us recall that the decisive stage of the large-scale project “City Battle” will be held in “Sirius” from December 6 to 13 on the tatami of the “Martial Arts Academy”.
